I hope your blog does well,if you could give some insight into things going on in Beech Grove it might draw more readers. You say you have lived in Beech Grove all your life, have you ever been involved like this before or are any of your relatives?

Thank you, and I too hope this Blog does well too, although I don't have visions of grandeur where it is concerned!!!
Yes, I have lived in BG all my life. I have never thought to write a blog until recently, and it was done out of a need to show that there are people who TRULY love this town and do not want to see it ripped to shreds. I don't really intend on this becoming a political blog, and will try to add things that are insightful as I learn of them, but I am also hoping to make this an arena where NICE people can also add things! I hope people will feel free to comment, or ask me to find out things, or even complain NICELY about the goings on in BG. Lastly, I do have relatives here in BG but no one involved in anything like this.
Have a great weekend!

Hump Day!
I am so glad Wednesday is finally here! We are only one week away from the 4th of July, and with that in mind, I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday! Remember to buy all of your meat etc. for your cookouts from the BG Meat Market! We want to keep them in business so we can still enjoy great meat at great prices! I hope that people will be respectful of their neighbors and keep the fireworks for the 4th only - this is especially nice for the people who have small children that are sleeping or the elderly and the dogs and kitties that it scares. I hear that they have a really nice parade etc. planned for Saturday. I hope to attend and enjoy the nice day. I have always thought Beech Grove should have a parade for the 4th and am glad to see it finally happening. I hope that everyone has a wonderful week. Thank you for your posts, so far everyone that has been posted has been really nice! I hope to keep it that way. Please tell yours friends about it. I hope to make this THE Blog for Beech Grove.

Beech Grove Citizen's Police Academy
I talked to one of the BG Citizens who attended the first police academy today. I was very excited to hear what was learned etc. and more than a little surprised to find that they were actually allowed to participate at the level they did. Most police departments are viewed as vigilantly and secretive. Not so our PD. They want their Citizens informed. The more we know the more we can help fight crime, and stay the small quaint town everyone wants BG to be. From all that I was told, I have a renewed respect for our Police Department. It sounds to me like a few of the guys are taking a page right from the Book of Shroyer! If you grew up in BG, you remember Lowell Shroyer - we hated him as kids and respect him now that we are adults! Funny how that happens!! If you get the chance, find someone who attended and have a chat with them about this program. I also encourage them to post it right here! I hope if they decide to have another one I can be on the team. If so, I will Journal each week.
There were a few comments posted on the other BG blog regarding the police officers and I will say this - Don't bite the hand that protects you...you never know when you may be under attack, especially if this city doesn't turn itself around. There is so much strife between people right now that we may have our own little city war before it is all said and done. How sad is that! And that being said - I hope Smitty's bakery business does pick up if it is down. How horrible would that be for the kids of BG not to be able to ride their bikes to get doughnuts on the weekends. (They still do that don't they?!!)
I have known our current Police Chief for several years as I have 2 kids that attended BG schools. Rich Witmer has been involved with the kids in our community for as long as I can recall, and now he is leading our police officers. All I can say to that is Bravo! I hope he stays in that position for a long time. If you want to be involved Beech Grove, go see Rich Witmer. I am sure they could use volunteers for something. Keep up the good work, protect our city and it's citizens, BGPD! I think you all deserve a big fat raise and I challenge the Mayor to make that happen, in fact I double dog dare him!!!

A New Week
Today starts a new week - what will it bring I wonder?
I hope it brings less stress, nice weather and a winning lottery ticket!!! I guess you have to play to win though! It appears that the other side of BG is having a hard time getting along today - maybe they are all constipated - I swear, SAY SOMETHING NICE! You may feel human again...I just cannot understand why people want to be so hateful all the time. My parents always taught me to speak my mind, mean what I say and not be upset if someone else chooses to speak their mind. That is not what is so upsetting. It is the nastiness that goes along with it! Maybe it is just the whole political thing. People just cannot seem to discuss politics without a fight ensuing..........
Have a wonderful week everyone and Happy Blogging!
